And so, the new blog was born.

Hi there!
Before I get into any details, I want to give you guys a brief introduction about myself.
My name is Eva, I'm 19 years old and am currently a second year student in Computer Science. During my first year, I never imagined that I would be studying computer science. I've tried out many different areas and now here I am after some self guidance.

This first assignment drained a lot of my energy. I must admit that I found the questions pretty challenging except for number 2. As I already had many struggles with CSC165, it was even harder for me to complete this assignment. I did work on it later than I should have and I realized that not good considering I had to start early since I had problems with 165. I will keep note of this mistake and be sure not to have it happen again in the future. I tried making an effort to office hour times but I had conflicts, even with the extra hours provided yesterday as well.

On another note, I had a hard time trying to understand latex. I posted on piazza about it a while back and people were telling me that it was fairly simple. It was very confusing, after 2 full days of trying to figure it out, I gave up. I don't think everything was installed properly. I installed other processors like Texstudios/Miktex and protex, but nothing seemed to work. It does look like it'll take quite some time to get used to though. I eventually found my way through typing up my assignment but I imagine that it took a longer time than if I were to use latex.

I really look up to the students who found it easy or enjoyable because it shows that they have strong knowledge in the material. I reread my notes numerous times and had discussions with other classmates, but was never able to adapt to the course so quickly. I'm still in process of trying to understand the material from previous lectures. Ironic woulyou could say, being in a CS specialist program with weak understanding of theory/proofs. I guess this'll be something I look back to and motivate myself to work harder. As they say, learn from your mistakes.

I really do need to manage my time better and look for more resources that can assist me in my studies. Back in first year I was so shy that even posting in forums frightened me. I've been actively participating as much as i can in an effort to make up for the fact that I can't attend office hours.

I must say it was a hectic week. Since my midterms started this week, I have such limited time to relax. I hope this all goes well by the end of exam period.

Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy the turkey :)
